When and how to stop shh pat

Hi there,

We’ve been doing the EASY routine a few weeks now on my 8 week old son, and have recently seen some real success with shh/pat to get him to nap during the day. I was just wondering how and when we transition him to slept settling.

He has no issue sleeping at night. We wind him down from 7pm by reducing activity and stimulation, and we get him in to his Pjs, he feeds at 8, then has a dream feed at around 10/10:30 then he sleeps soundly until around 6am. He sometimes stirs in the night, but manages to nod back off himself.

I’m nervous I’m making a rod for our own backs with the shhh pat for naps, as I can’t see in the BW book how to stop it so that he learns to soothe himself to go down for naps.

Thanks

FAR FAR too early for him to be able to self soothe. Whatever anyone else says, it's developmental

To be honest You have it really pretty good and it might well go to pot with a sleep regression or teething in future anyway. At that age, I don't think I could even put my son down unless he was deeply asleep and he occasionally did one 3 hour stretch overnight
