Early waking can a dream feed help

My lo used to wake at 530 for ages then went to 7 (after some research and nap time changes or coincidence?) then 730 now 530 again! Agh! I’ve darkened room as much, white noise etc etc

Has anyone found a dreamfeed helps them sleep longer as he has also stopped waking for this one night feed (but then some of the 730 starts he had no night feed either!).

Wondering if I should start a Df at 10? Would that push him to at least 630?

530 is too early !!!

What time is the first nap? If you want a wake up at 7 then first nap should be at 9 or later.

Is she hungry when she wakes up at 5.30? I’d be careful of introducing night feeds if she’s dropped them

Phase I'm afraid. Sleeping until 530 is pretty good!

angelopal · 21/05/2018 07:42

No idea about the dream feed as not tried it. But sympathise as DC2 is up at 4.30 every day. He will just not go back to sleep.

Tryingno1 · 21/05/2018 10:45

Sadly it’s not a phase he did it aged 3-5 months then stopped for 6 weeks and then started again! I wouldn’t mind so much if I didn’t have to drive late back home after work but I’m so sleepy at 930 every night. Maybe my body clock needs to readjust!

First nap is 930am and never earlier regardless when he wakes!

Just ignore then.......it'll change in the future. Not much you can do apart from go to bed as early As poss

My 15 month old used to sleep until gone 630...we have been stuck at 530 for the last month...it's just a case of waiting it out imo.

Is he waking ravenously hungry, or just awake and ready for the day? If the hunger, then maybe the feed might help but I would be hesitant to re introduce night feeds if you've managed to stop them.

If just awake for the day, then you could try the "wake-to-sleep" technique. So if he's waking at 5.30, for a few days in a row, you wake thirty minutes earlier and go and disturb him just enough that he stirs and is roused a bit. But not enough to fully wake him. The theory is that the light disturbance will mean he falls back into a deeper sleep afterwards and begins a whole new sleep cycle which should see him wake later. And after a few days it hopefully becomes habit.

Obviously this is a risky one as otherwise you have just woken your baby even earlier! But it's worth a try.

If he still wakes early, I would probably just adjust my own bedtime and routine. and it's no help to you to hear me say this, but I think sleeping through even with an early start is amazing - I hate broken sleep and would prefer an early start if that was the price to pay. But everyone is different.

Best of luck.

We take it turns with him so one is up at 4.30 and the other sleeps in until 6am.

A late night in our house is 9.30 Smile

Yes ur right sycamore, interrupted sleep isn’t great!!! My lo used to wake 2 hourly and had 2 night feeds and was up for 2 hours in the middle of the night 1-3 EVERY NiGhT and then did 530 starts from 3-5.5 months - The 4 month regression hit us! And then it settled slowly..I hope we not gearing up for the 8 month one as the 530 starts we’re the first sign that things were going to go belly up!

Thanks for the advice!

Well think i was right
Last few nights been up for 2 hours feeding didn’t help either
No idea what’s going on - prob the stupid regression! Now I just want him to sleep through and wake at 530!

You can't get too fixated on it as this is totally normal for babies......just go to sleep as early as you can and ride the storm x

Tryingno1 · 24/05/2018 10:36
