Newborn doesn’t sleep in his cot

Hi mums, my 3 week old hasn’t liked sleeping in his Moses basket at night since day one so our sleep is deprived to say the least. He feeds a few times a night and falls asleep on my tummy but as soon as I gently put him in his basket he wakes up and starts making bear like noises, wiggling his arms and legs vigorously. I can’t sleep with him on my belly though and I know co-sleep is unsafe so don’t want to risk . any ideas ??

Oh and he wiggles out of the swaddle and spits out the dummy

Co-sleeping is not unsafe. The NHS offers advice on how to do it safely.

Also, many newborns do not like to sleep alone. It is something he will gradually get used to

Not yet met a baby who actually likes the cot! I co sleep with my 6 month old breastfeeding twins.

My ds was the same, so I co slept, dh was I. The spare room. We slept so much better and when he needed a feed, I could roll over and give him some boob and go back to sleep easily.

At about 9 months he slept in a cot and had been an excellent sleeper ever since.

Dd however slept fine in a cot but we padded the mattress, I think they're very thin and quite uncomfortable!!
