Curious what time other 18month olds are going to bed? And how long are they awake from the end of nap time to bedtime?

Ds is 20 months and has a nap in the morning from 9 -12 ish OR after dinner from 1-2.30ish. Then is always in bed for 7pm.

He will wake in the morning anything between 6.30 and 8.00 (normally depending on if he can hear us getting up for work).

Does this fit in with what you do?

DD1 is 17mths she tends to nap at around 1-2pm would sleep longer but I wake her. She goes to bed at around 7pm with both my other children and she gets up any time from 6am.

v. interested in this as we are in the process of adjusting. The aim is:

bed at 8.00, wake at 7.00

nap 1-3pm

It has been a bit all over the place, but that is the aim!

Last night was:
Bed at 8.00 (didn't sleep till 8.30 though)
Awake at 6.00 (yuck, yuck, too early)
Nap 9-10am (catch up from the bad night!)
Nap 1-3pm

dd is 20mths she sleeps from 7pm to 6.30 ish (sometimes 7am) in the afternoon she sleeps from 12.15ish to 2.15 ish

btw he is 18 months exactly

Thanks for the feedback. DS gets up at 6am most mornings, then will nap 12-2pm. I've been having new bedtime battles trying to settle him at 7:30pm, and wasn't sure if it was because he wasn't tired or because he was overtired. Frankly I am somewhat surprised that 30minutes can make such a difference but maybe it can because tonight I had the lights out by 7:10pm and he settled much easier. Based on most of the responses, 7pm is also pretty typical bedtime for kids this age (though parents and in-laws make me feel like I put him down too early).

at 18 months dd slept for an hour at lunchtime, usually waking around 2pm then went to bed at 8pm then slept (usually) all night until 8am.

JARM · 18/05/2007 17:48

my 18mnth old does the following....

6.30pm bed
usually 7.30am wake, but we have had a few bad ones lately.
nap at 12.30-3pm

on days where she is awake early - like this morning (6.25am YUK) she naps from 10.30-12.30 and then still in bed at 6.30pm

Am going to try and hold her up a little later tonight and see if it helps the mornings!

TootyFrooty · 18/05/2007 17:50

Bed at 6.30pm. Awake at 5am. Nap from 10am - 12noon.

rabbleraiser · 18/05/2007 17:58

When ds was 18 months, he generally went to sleep at 8pm.

He's 2.6 now and still does.

PanicPants · 18/05/2007 21:00

I've fiound that for ds, it makes absolutely no difference at what time he goes to bed. He will always wake up a similiar times in the morning.

However, if we have a very late night due to being out for a family do etc and get back in around 8/9ish then ds will ALWAYS wake up earlier. Go figure!
