Should I try baby out in travel cot pre holiday?

So 7 mo is finally sleeping well (for him). We have a UK holiday coming up in June and I am conscious this may throw things out of whack. Whats best - try him in the travel cot at home or just go cold turkey when we get there? The surroundings will obviously be different so will the cot make that much difference? I will be putting the sleepyhead inside it so he will have that familiarity. He will unfortunately be in our room too which hopefully wont break the hard work of moving him to his nursery!

Any advice of when to try?

We use a travel cot when I visit family, we've also used one in a hotel. Ds was fine, we did his normal bedtime routine and plonked him in.
He slept as he normally did. Take his normal blanket/teddy etc. So it's familiar.
The travel cots always seem very uncomfortable, see if you can get a travel cot mattress for it. The one we have used is basically a hard foldable base with a thin piece of stuffing.
