How long does your 3/4 year old sleep?

My just turned 4 year old has just fallen asleep, so 10pm which is about normal for her. She will usually wake up at 7am. Just wondering how that compares to other children her age.

A lot of "justs" in that post, sorry! It's been a very tiring four years!

Normally 8.15pm -7.30am. Sometimes sleeps in a little longer in the morning, and occasionally still naps (once a week or so, usually 1.5 hours). He's 4 next month.

elQuintoConyo · 13/05/2018 22:12

Mine was about the same. Until about 3.5yo he was still having an afternoon siesta of around 30-40 minutes (includung at school Grin).

He is 6.5yo now and goes to bed at 9pm, up at 8am. Runs around like Roadrunner on speed all day. We did a two-hour mountain walk today and swam in a river, he went to bed at 8.30. He'll be bpuncing at 8am tomorrow.

He does sleep through the night, did from around 2yo/2.5.

My little boy (4yo) can go anywhere between 7-10 and will be up between 6/7 full of beans 😬

wrongway · 13/05/2018 22:16

About the same as yours (just 4 too). Despite constant efforts, never seems to be actually asleep before 8.30pm. And always always awake by 7am, often 6.30am. I've always felt she should sleep more, since day 1! She stopped napping really early too (18 months I think?). Unless we go for a long drive in the afternoon. I guess some kids just don't need as much sleep as others.

Geordiegirl1988 · 13/05/2018 22:18

Same op 10-730

Aprilmightbemynewname · 13/05/2018 22:19

7-7.
Ds 3.8 asks to do his teeth and go to bed. Has since before he was 2!!

Muddlingalongalone · 13/05/2018 22:20

8/8:30 - 7 (when I have to wake her for nursery) or 7:30-45 at the weekends normally apart from this weekend when she was up by 6:30 yawn....

Geordiegirl1988 · 13/05/2018 22:20

She will sleep later but school days I wake her at 730. Weekend can be 9 am or later

Jimwenttothedarklands · 13/05/2018 22:23

She's generally snoring by 8 but is wide awake by 6ish. She's never seemed to need much sleep. She stopped napping at about 12months. But when she's asleep, she's asleep. We could vacuum her room and she wouldn't even stir!

MollyDaydream · 13/05/2018 22:23

Around 7.30-8pm to 7am.

Albusbumblebee · 13/05/2018 23:21

wrongway dd also stopped napping at around 18 months. I agree some dc do need less sleep but I wish mine wasn't one of them sometimes!

Everyone I know with similar aged dc say they are asleep by 7pm, maybe 7.30pm latest, so I feel quite relieved by some of the responses on this thread. I usually have her up in bed by 7.30pm but sometimes I let her stay up until 9pm because I just can't be bothered with the palava. I feel like a bad mum when I do this though.

And now it's getting lighter she's woken up earlier a few times. Between 5 and 6am but it was 4am one morning! I got awful flashbacks to the first two years which I spent looking and feeling like the living dead. Luckily the last couple of days she's gone back to 7am so hopefully she will stick with that.

My 3 year old ds goes to sleep between 7-7:30pm and wakes up around 6am. It was later in the winter though. He gets so tired in the afternoon but will not stay asleep once the sun is up!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 13/05/2018 23:33

Mine slept for 11.25 - 11.5 hours at that age.

DarkDarkNight · 13/05/2018 23:33

Bedtime is around 19.15, he has 3 stories and usually falls asleep fairly quickly, but occasionally it can take an age. I couldn’t tell you what time he wakes up, he is already in my bed when I wake up in the morning. I would say around 6 - 6.30.

SprayingMonsters · 13/05/2018 23:34

My four year old is in bed by 7.15, he falls asleep very quickly and wakes up around 5.30am, he naps during the day too.

LapinR0se · 14/05/2018 13:17

DD is 3.8 years old and she falls asleep at around 7.45pm and wakes at 7am

HeyMicky · 14/05/2018 13:19

DD is just 3, sleeps 7-6 plus 90 min nap in the afternoon still (but can manage without it if necessary - doesn't change her nighttime sleep either way)

Albusbumblebee · 14/05/2018 22:28

Well it was another 10pm bedtime tonight. I'm unbelievably jealous of the ones here with children who nap!

blinkineckmum · 20/05/2018 04:14

4yo does about 8-7
2yo about 9-6.30

No naps!

Hermie12 · 20/05/2018 04:44

My 3 1/2 year old dd is very similar. Never a big sleeper v active. I went through a phase when she was about 18 months of trying to get her in bed earlier, it took forever and made us both miserable. Now she is normally in bed by 9. 8.30 if I’m lucky! Wakes up between 7-7.30. She will often wake in the night but I can settle her back in about 5 minutes otherwise she ends up coming up with dp and I. Luckily she’s learnt to climb On him to go back to sleep 😂

Hermie12 · 20/05/2018 04:46

Oh and she hasn’t napped for ages. Any day time sleep causes me bedtime drama!
