Baby’s massive farts wake her up every night!

Hello! My little girl goes from 11pm til 6am without a feed but her trapped farts wake her up at pretty much bang on 2am every night. If it wasn’t for her wind, she’d sleep through the night - she’s done this a handful of times before. When she wakes to do her farts, she doesn’t want a feed, but she just grunts and kicks really hard every 5 mins in her crib for the rest of the night and won’t settle again properly unless I bring her into our bed. Is there anything I can do to prevent her farts, or is it something she will grow out of? She does some impressive burps after feeding and is on colief drops for her milk which help, but don’t eradicate the almighty trumps!!

I'm afraid I have no advice as it's the same for my little boy! But marking my place and hopefully someone will have advice!! I've been trying gripe water but so far hasn't made a difference!

It’s so frustrating isn’t it, I feel so helpless, I’ve not tried gripe water yet. Just tried bicycle legs and baby massage - nothing seems to stop the inevitable build up at 2am! She turns in to a human whoopee cushion 😂

Is she on formula? Maybe the cows milk doesn’t quite agree with her.

Although if she’s in your bed and settles, are you sure it’s the trumping waking her up?

Yes we tried bicycle legs and massage too - and like yours it's from the early hours! Think he would sleep longer if it wasn't for the wind!! I thought he might have grown out of it by now!

I have the exact same problem with my dd, I've been putting infacol in the feed before bed last few nights and it seems to have made a bit of a difference.

..but I'm still hoping someone has a better answer!

Believeitornot - yes she’s on formula and the thought did cross my mind about not tolerating cows milk but she’s fine other than farting all the time 😂 She does it all day too but I think it just builds up at night while she’s still. I’m not sure why she settles next to me because it always seems to be the farting that wakes her up so I always assumed that was the problem.

Maplebaby - fingers crossed it passes for them, it’s funny how loud their farts are but my god they must be in some discomfort with it!

Madamgrumps - infacol works wonders for us to bring burps up but I’ve never noticed it making a difference to her bum burps 🙈 fingers crossed it’s just something they’ll grow out of, otherwise god knows how they’re going to keep a boyfriend if they fart so much in their sleep 😂😂

Mine is breastfed and it's not bad in the day just builds over night!

MadamGrumps · 30/04/2018 02:30

Maybe I was just clinging at straws then as it's still waking her so wasn't actually helping that much! Hmm

DS1 & 2 used to do this at about 5am. I would lay them on their front for about half an hour then turn them back over which seemed to work.

You could try bringing her into your bed before normal fart time.... 😆

How old is she? If she’s over 6 months, you could try her on her tummy.
