Fidgety baby - cot too small?

Hiya,

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experiences of a really fidgety baby? My LO is ten months old and I bed-share with her (with DH in the spare room). She is such a restless sleeper, she fidgets throughout the night and ends up in the most ridiculous positions!

She sleeps in bed with me as she absolutely hates her cot. I think it's because its a small cot (120cm x 60cm mattress) and her fidgeting means she ends up banging herself on the bars etc and getting her arms and legs stuck all the time. So we all can get some sleep she sleeps in bed with me which we are just about coping with but I want to move her into her own room before I go back to work in two months time.

I've considered getting a bigger cot bed to try her in but didn't want to fork out money for a new bed only to find the same problem. Has anyone got any similar experience with this? I have made her a floor bed with a single mattress and baby-proofed the nursery and she does sleep well on there but DH isn't keen on the idea of that being her permanent bed Confused

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

I’d just go with trying the floor bed personally if you think it works and have bay proofed the room. A lot of people do this aswell, some babies just hate cots

We are in a similar situation and our thoughts are the same. My lb is 9 months old and in a 120x60 cot. He has always been a massive fidget but I have noticed that every time he rolls or moves sideways he crashes into the side of the cot and that disturbs him. We have discussed getting a cot bed as they are bigger and give him more room. He is a big boy anyway and is only going to be bigger.
I think I have convinced DH that we need to buy a cot bed and try him.
Hoping that the extra room will stop him bashing himself. He sleeps ok but just fidgets and we do have to re settle him a lot.

I changed my DS to a cot bed as he is also very wriggly and it has definitely helped. He still crashes around but it's better than it was! I also have got the air flow (I think that's what they are called) cot bumpers up which stops him bashing hard wood or getting stuck in the bars!

I've taken the plunge and bought a cot bed for my restless boy. His first night in tonight so will see if any improvement. I will do anything to stop these wake ups!!
