11 month old hysterical at bedtime

Hi there

We've just had the worst bedtime experience since DS was a newborn. He'll normally go in his cot with a dummy, crawl around for a bit, sometimes needs laying back down, but eventually settles on his own.

However, tonight he started crying hysterically as soon as he went down in his cot. We tried feeding again (not interested), Anbesol, infant ibuprofen (thinking it must be pain given the noises he was making) but still no joy. Tried rocking him to sleep which worked until we put him back down in his cot, and then it all started again.

He finally seems to have nodded off 1.5 hours after we took him upstairs. I can't tell if this is the beginning of a sleep regression or something else. He's been generally behaving a bit 'weird' lately - increasingly fussy and bitey when BFing, itching and scratching at face a lot the past few days, and increasingly unsettled in the evenings before bed.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? I don't want to assume it's a sleep regression if he's actually poorly, but nothing we did seemed to console him. Other than rocking to sleep, but we can't start doing that every night at nearly a year old.

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom Smile
