Restless sleeper after 2/3am

Hello

My son is 3 months and is a relatively good sleeper. Goes down easily and sleeps for a long stretch from early evening until 2/3am. recently, however, he has started to become restless at around 2/3am (thrashing around and moaning a little but eyes usually closed) and continues on and off until morning and eventually waking crying.

I have been feeding him when he stirs but he doesn't seem overly hungry (he is EBF). I have tried letting him settle himself and he sometimes does or popping in his dummy, but within 20 mins he stirs again.

Any tips would be most welcome! Thanks

Hi! I'm just thinking it might be wind upsetting him. Have you tried Infacol or gripe water before his evening meal?just an idea. Hope it improves and he gets good quality sleep (and so do you).

Thanks for your reply. I think he does have wind, I bicycle his legs a lot and he does pass wind, but he is still then seems so uncomfortable. I do give him incfacol every feed to help him, i think it helps in the day but just not in the night unfortunately ☹️

Try gripe water in the evening feed. I found that with my baby infacol stopped being effective at a certain point and gripe water really improved the situation. Unfortunately my baby had a dairy and soy allergy which was giving her abdominal pain and discomfort. Tummy massage in the clock direction also might help passing the wind. Good luck!
