Early rising after nighttime dryness?

DS is 2.9 and been day time toilet trained for around 6 weeks. Over the last 10 days he's been dry every morning when I've taken his pull up off. This is great but has also coincided with being awake at 5.30ish every day then needing a pee around 6/6.15am. He won't go back to sleep.
He's not been a super early riser before - always 6.15 onwards which has been fine but I'm finding the 5-somethings tough going (as is he as he's knackered and grouchy).

Don't know if it is to do with the dry nights or the dawn chorus or both but any advice? He is not interested in the trusty gro clock as as DD was Confused
