Sleep regressions all the time

My 18 month old is a late bloomer. Late in crawling and walking. Whenever I talk to parents, it's as if my son is the only one that goes through every sleep regression- first three months were horrible; at 4 months, it lasted six weeks; at 6 months, three weeks; at 8 months, it lasted two and a half months; at one year, three weeks; then he had six weeks at 15 months and now at 18 months, he woke at 2.30am and refused to go back to sleep. I'm so angry right now. It's like he's always terrible. It always lasts the longest with him. It's the primary reason why I don't want anymore children. Is there something wrong with him? He's the one who goes through all of them, and lasts the longest. Why? Am i just a crap parent that should just go back to work and leave him in the care of others?

Firstly, you absolutely are not a crap parent. How your child sleeps is not a reflection of your parenting in anyway. Although I’m sure it’s frustrating, and I totally get it (10 month old doesn’t sleep through yet), your son is totally normal. Baby sleep isn’t linear in the first years, it goes up and down. Regressions are just part of that and every baby is different. Some sail through the regression times and with some every new milestone brings issues. Does he ever sleep through? Just keep doing what youre doing to get through.

Although i know it’s hard, don’t discuss it with anyone else- nothing good comes from it. Theres no point comparing. I’ve often found people can be a bit untruthful about their situation aswell 😂

This all will pass, and before you know it baby will be all grown up and sleep issues will be a thing of the past! You’re doing a great job mama, don’t forget that!
