11 months too early to have 1 nap a day?

My LO is 11 months and goes to bed 7pm and sleeps through until 6.30/7.00am (unless teething or poorly)
He has two naps a day 10am (1hr-1.30) and 2pm (30mins -45mins) the last few days he has napped in the afternoon later and woke up at 4.15pm. Trouble is the last two nights when he has napped later he has not wanted to go down to bed at 7pm and has been WIDE awake and chatting away bouncing up and down stood up in his cot just not tired at all.
I am not wondering if one nap a day would do him? Is it too young to drop to one nap? There's just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to for two naps in and have bedtime at 7pm. The days when he has woke later in the morning and we've delayed the morning nap to lunchtime he had gone right through until bedtime and been happy enough x

I think according to the books it's too early for one nap a day, but then again every child is different so who knows... maybe try it out for a few days and see if it helps?

DS is 16 months and still has 2 naps (and sleeps 7pm - 6.30am most days) But he always has his morning one earlier, around 8.30-9am. Would your LO be able to sleep earlier? As that would leave more space for afternoon nap.

We have been mostly following the 2-3-4 nap schedule since mine was about 9 months and it's been working beautifully

I'd do one nap at 1pm if you can make it till then.

We had to get DC onto a one nap schedule just after he turned 1 as he was due to start nursery and they were not going to be able to get him to sleep as he only settled for me at that time.

He has adapted fine, wakes around 7 or is woken around 07.20, off to nursery for 8. Then I pick him up about 12.45 and straight home for a nap just before 1. He then sleeps until 3-3.30 and goes to bed at 7. He's got the hang of weekends though, he always sleeps later and sometimes sleeps until 08.30!

For the last 2 weeks my 10 month old was showing signs of dropping to one nap. We were following the 234 routine and that worked really well. Whilst he was happy to do one nap a day it just felt too little for me and too much anxiety about how tired he was and at what time of day. I've switched him back to 234 and he seems even happier. I just have to be careful not to let him sleep too late into the afternoon as that can affect bed time.

My LO is 10 months old and like p.o. has a nap at 8.30/9am theb another one around 1/2 o'clock.

With the earlier nap they're guaranteed to be tired by the afternoon one and even if they sleep for 2 hours will still have a gap big enough for bedtime at 6.30/7.

All kids are different though and I think as long as they get around 2 1/2 hours naptime a day when and how you do it doesnt really matter if your child is happy.

My son stopped his morning nap just before he was 12 months old. Same situation as you in that there wasn’t time in the afternoon to fit a nap in otherwise he was sleeping too close to his bedtime. Since 12 months old he mostly goes from 6.30-1 (after sleeping through for 11hrs in the night) and sleeps for about 2 hours. This means he’s tired enough at bedtime. I panicked a little in the beginning thinking it’s too early for dropping to just one nap a day but it was right for him as he just didn’t seem tired in the morning and it was a battle to try and get him to have a morning nap. Very occasionally now he’ll fall asleep in the buggy for 30mins in the morning but I’d prefer him not too as that’s often v late (11ish) which means there would only be time for a half hour nap later and that’s def not enough for him in the day!

My 11 month old has just dropped to one nap 11.30-1.30ish. She was doing 10-11 then 3-4 but I just couldn't get her to sleep at bedtime she was genuinely wide awake til 9pm. It's only day two so may have to adjust but looking positive so far...

He is very little to drop to one nap. I'd keep his morning nap short - 45 minutes - and let him have a longer second nap.
