Swaddling past 3 months

My DD is 12 weeks and has been sleeping well from 6 weeks, even sleeping through a few times, in a Mothercare swaddling blanket. She’s a big baby and is now growing out of this, her arms and legs wiggling free and the whole thing unravelling. In the last week she’s been waking up every hour which may well be a phase, 4 month sleep regression type thing or a cold, but could also not be helped by the swaddle not enclosing her as well as before.

Any recommendations as to what kind of swaddle, if any, I could move her to next?

Our house is old and drafty and putting loads of blankets on her makes me anxious, so the warmer the better. Ideally she’d be in a sleeping bag as they are so much more easy to cuddle and feed and not have to worry about blankets so much!

She’s in a sidecar cot next to me, if that makes any difference.

Have you tried a swaddleme? They go up to 18 lbs I think.

I used a flat cot sheet, £10 for 2 in Argos

Or indeed just cut up an old duvet cover for bigger sheet.

I cut a cut sheet in half along the short edge to make trouble very long, thin rectangles. It meant the swaddle could be tight around arms and shoulders but kept legs and hips freer to move.

My LO is 18 weeks and still gets swaddled, if we don't then LO is restless and barely sleeps. Worth noting my LO isn't yet rolling over and I really have no idea what I'll do when it starts. Also I tie/clip LO in the swaddle so they can't wiggle out or get the covers over their face - I have the same fear as you.

We used the miracle blanket swaddle until DD was 6 months old. She wriggled out of everything else! It has extra flap things that you pin their arms down with. She loved it!
