My 8 month old used to be a great sleeper who could easily self settle sucking her thumb however this has all gone to pot since she got teeth 2 months ago.
She still puts her thumb in her mouth but seems to have forgotten how to suck it and just chews and bites at it and then pulls it out in disgust and howls. Unfortunately she doesnt seem to learn that it's uncomfortable and will repeatedly do this while crying. Shes's had teeth for 2 months now and is still doing this...
I've tried giving her a dummy but I think we've probably missed the boat with that as she turns her head away or won't open her mouth or just takes it out her mouth and throws it away.
I've put comforters in her cot and give her a muslin to hold that we've used when feeding but she's not interested.
We have resorted to co sleeping in desperation but she's still waking up every 1.5 hours all night and although she is not getting upset because I'm there, after a quick feed she will lie there and happily shout and screech for an hour at a time until she goes back to sleep. It's quite deafing at times and as we are co sleeping it's right in my ear.
No one is getting much sleep and I'd really like to stop co sleeping soon as I'm going back to work in a month.
Does anyone have any suggestions that would help?
