Really Early Morning Waking

Hi, after reading a million threads I have once again been woken at 4.15 by my 9 month old baby. Husband works away so I am on my own and struggling to cope.

I have tried cutting his daytime naps back - yesterday he had two hours (30 mins at 9am and 1.5 at 1pm, bath bed at 6.30.)

He has three big meals a day plus a breastfeed in morning as close to 6am as I can ya formula but still I cannot stop him from waking between 4-5. He does go back to sleep for maybe an hour but I don’t and spend most of the night anxiously wondering if he will sleep until 6.

Any advice or suppport? Or just tell me it might end one day (has been going on for a couple of months).

Thanks xx

Hi

Looks like you are doing all you can to me? Does he wake in the night as well as getting up at 4.15?

Mine is now 11m and went through a spell of 4am starts. Now it's either up several times a night or up once with an early start (5am).

This is a hard age and they have a lot going on mentally.

My eldest slept through from 14m and not long after that was consistently sleeping 12hr nights.

I am in the ride it out camp! I found tinkering around changing things and it not working more stressful tbh.

I do understand it's hard - I work compressed hours in 4 days and am on my own lots of the time.

We will get through it!! :)

Thanks! Upon re-reading, I guess my struggling to cope comment was a little OTT, I’m just highly peed off, especially given he used to sleep 12+ hours. I agree that the tweaking of schedules can cause more stress, so maybe I need to chill out and ride it out. It’s just so bloody frustrating! I guess I’m looking for a non-existent miracle cure!

My 8.5 month old wakes up between 5am-6am everyday (an improvement on the 4am wake ups we used to have!). I think it just sorts itself out in the end - if you have a good routine and baby isn't over-tired. Mine also wakes regularly in the night but I co-sleep and go to bed when he does so I manage ok on the sleep I get. Good luck and hope it passes soon.

Hi there I've currently got this problem with DD3, having experienced it at some point with both my other children and having tried everything and I mean EVERYTHING Grin under the sun to rectify I've come to the conclusion babies just do what they bloody well like until they decide otherwise ! There is oftens no reason and I've given up driving myself mad trying to find one now , relaxing and letting it run its course are much easier , it's a phase that won't last.
