Newborn sleeping -poss wrong category?

What do your newborn sleep in at night?
There is no room in my bedroom for a cot so was thinking of putting a Moses basket in instead for the first 6 months or so.
The nursery is pretty small so we have got a cot in there for now and will change to a toddler bed when needed.

Some people have said to use the carrycot part of the pram on the bedroom or put them straight in the cot as the Moses basket is a waste of time.

Any other ideas?

I have a baby nest for when I am downstairs with baby but don't think it's suitable for all night. Plus I don't want him on the floor.

Is a Moses basked the best option?

Ours was used once/twice. Far too drafty and she didn't sleep good in it.

Moses basket is likely to be large enough to last 6 months. Only some carrycots are suitable for overnight sleeping (Uppababy and Buggobo).

A space saving cot or travel cot may fit or you could cosleep.

What about a Chicco Next to Me. Or perhaps a bednest which are smaller

I think mine is the only baby on Mumsnet who does actually sleep in a Moses basket. He's quite happy in his, so much so that we have two, one upstairs in our room and one downstairs for during the day. I will say though that there's no way he's going to sleep in it until 6 months, he's growing too fast!

We had a Moses basket, Uppababy carrycot, cosleeper and a cot...

Baby slept in our bed Grin As did her brother 21 months later

Could you get a crib? They last a bit longer than a moses basket but are smaller than a cot. Mine were always in Moses baskets till about 4 months then they were too big.

My DS had grown out of his Moses basket by 9 weeks (and hated it anyway before that). We’ve got a Chicco next to me crib to try for DC2 when they arrive later in the year.

I used a small cot/crib. Similar in size I guess to a Moses basket, but in my mind a bit more stable
