Dummy making sleep worse?

DD2 is 3 months. I hardly used a dummy with DD1 who didn’t seem too interested. DD2 was starting to suck her thumb and would wake up with the arm of her sleeping bag soaked from trying to chew on it. So I introduced the dummy about 5 days ago.

First day it was amazing, she napped for 2 hour stretches and went into her cot for bedtime with minimal rocking. But now...she is waking every 30 min from 7:30 PM (bedtime) until 10:30/11 and writhing around. No other changes.

Could it be the dummy? Falling out or keeping her awake somehow? But what’s my alternative...she has a strong urge to suck. Help!

When my DD hit the 4 month sleep regression, she started waking hourly for her dummy. I just had to keep putting it back in, until she was about 6 months and could do it herself using a sleepytot toy.

My first did this, it was a nightmare and I didn't give DS a dummy as a result.

I don’t see my alternative given she is desperate to suck on something. Thumb seems worse than dummy!

As pp said it’s a phase of putting the dummy back in, and won’t be forever. I think dummies are amazing! Mine wouldn’t take one so at 4 months the ‘putting the dummy back in’ every hour was actually my boob. Exhausting 😂
