Hi, my nearly 5 month old will not sleep before 8.45pm and usually wakes up anywhere between 5 and 6am. Would love it if he could sleep an at 7.30pm but have not managed to get this!

His routine is as follows:

6am: wake up /feed
8.15am: nap (usually 1hr30)
9.45/10am: wake
11.45/12pm: nap (usually 2hr/2hr30)
2/2.30pm: wake
4.30/5pm: catnap (30mins)
8.30/9pm: Bed

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Is he sleeping through from 8.45 - 5 or 6? If so, is the later night really a problem? I honestly would leave well alone. After fighting it for a while and after a horrendous stretch of terrible nights we eventually settled into a very similar routine when DD was about 18 months (but without the morning nap or catnap, and with the lunchtime nap a little later). Eventually she started to sleep in a little longer in the morning too - until say 7.30/8 which she seems really happy with. That means I have a toddler with a similar bedtime to your lo and it works brilliantly for us as it means I actually get to spend time with her after I get home from work (usually about 7.30/8ish). Of course I now have pregnancy insomnia but at least DD sleeps through!

Totally normal. Bedtime started getting earlier for us around 7 months.

My kids have never been early bedders and even now the youngest two age 8 and 5 go to bed around 9pm. It really could be doing with being earlier for the 5 year old as he needs to be dragged out of bed for school, but the 8 year old is normally asleep at 9.30 and up herself at 7.
Some kids don’t need an early bed. So don’t worry.

If your baby sleeps from 9pm until 6am with no wake ups in between then you are very very lucky. Don't try and change it.
It will probably change naturally over time but for now just relax and enjoy the sleep while it lasts. Trying for more might ruin it completely.

Neither of mine went to sleep before 10 or 11pm until they were into toddlerhood. Although they did used to sleep until 9ish which I was very happy with.
What happened in the end was that the afternoon nap got later and later until it sort of joined up with the night-time and they were sleeping from 7 or 8pm
As pp's have said- It sounds like everyone is getting a good chunk of sleep every night. I'd thank your lucky stars and leave things as they are.
