Moses Basket VS Cot Bed

I can't decide what would be better for my baby. Moses baskets seem more cosy and snug but all I've heard is people say they don't last long as your baby grows and they're a waste of money for how long they're used. Cot beds seem more practical but they seem really big for a new born. Opinions?

We used both - the moses basket doesn't fit for long, but was really good for those first few months. It could be moved easily from room to room, and fitted easily next to our bed. We chose a large cot bed which, as it converted into a small bed, should last us until dc is in primary school. 2 beds in 6 years or so doesn't seem so bad.

We had a bednest for six months then moved into the cot when baby moved to her own room. Moses basket is a bit smaller than the bedside crib type beds I think, so easily lasted the six months.

Borrow a Moses basket or get a second hand one. As you say, they are only in them for about 3 months, so people have them lying around not being used.
They are useful at first - as pp said, you can easily move it round to different rooms, so they can lie in it during the day when you are downstairs, etc., or if you stay overnight somewhere.
