Newborn Sleeping situation

My DGS is 3 days old and in another country ( quite hot ) He has just come home from hospital and I have been sent a photo of him sleeping in Moses basket. Lovely but... he is on his side , he's wearing a hat, there's a pillow in the basket down his side ( behind his back ) He's clothed and is wrapped in a couple of fleecy blankets. There are also drapes above the head end of the basket . I'm not sure but I don't think this is recommended in UK. How can I raise this with my DiL ?She is with her mother and I suppose this is normal in her country and I am concerned about how to raise it. Thanks

You let your DIL get on with it. She has help and support with her and she'll ask you if she would like your input. Congratulations on your new GC SmileWine.

You leave it. There is every possibility that this is the norm where she is.

And if you do ever raise anything, do it via your son.

Im pretty straight talking so I would just send her a general link on newborns and sleeping. It should cover most NHS advice.

Agree with pp, it's not your place to say.

blueberrypi27 · 18/02/2018 20:19

Send your son some info on safe sleeping if you think he would be receptive to ut

Agree with approaching your son rather than DIL. But I couldn't not say anything.

MarshaBradyo · 18/02/2018 20:20

Send guidelines to your ds and say why you’re concerned to him

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 18/02/2018 20:20

I'd leave out tbh, If it's the norm where they are then that's that. Otherwise, raise it with your son privately and let him decide what to do from that point.

Thanks all , I will mention it to my son. Obviously the last thing I want is to be intrusive and 'this way is better than your way' but I've just been reading Lullaby Trust advice and feel it's too important to not at least show it to him. I've ordered a little room thermometer , I thought wouldn't offend.
Hope to get a cuddle soon!
