Night time cough

Hi all. Just after some advice.

My 2 and half year old daughter has always has a little, I mean 2 or 3 times a night cough when she sleeps. Naps or night time. Nothing at all to worry about.

The last 4 days, she's had a slight cold but not bad at all. When we have been putting her to bed, she is quite literally coughing alllll night long. Every 1 minute we timed it. To the point of vomiting. She's fab in herself, but the coughing at night is really distressing to watch. She's struggling to almost breath with it and clearly not sleeping.

Do I sit and let it pass? Or go to the doctors? The doctors trip itself will be a nightmare with her so want to know whether it's worth it.

I'm worried about a chest infection, whooping cough, asthma or being paranoid and just a cold. Just seems very extreme at night for a cold.

Ah we get this a few times a year - the coughing is awful as you're on tenterhooks waiting for the next one which stops you sleeping too! If she's ok in the day it's probably nothing serious like a chest infection, last year the doctor gave us an inhaler thing to give her before bed but it made not the slightest difference.

Take her to the dr, night time coughing can be a symptom of asthma.

My DD used to do this a lot, her inhaler stops it.
