Night time nappy changes

Just looking to see what any of you do about your wee ones during the night wrt changing their nappy - my 3 month old lb (on a very good night!) goes to sleep in the living room with us in his sleeping bag in his pram bassinet around 8 after bath/nappy change etc. I then take him with me through to bed for a dream feed and put him in to his next2me about 11 where (again on a good night!) he sleeps till maybe 4 before another feed and is up for the day at 6. I don’t want him to wake up uncomfortable in a wet nappy during the night but on the other hand don’t want to wake him up to change his nappy when he is right in the middle of a good deep sleep!! What do you do with your little ones?

I don't change nappies at night if wet, only if dirty.

If my little one wakes I'll change and feed him, I will not wake a sleeping bubba aha

Mulch · 15/02/2018 22:07

I'd never wake a sleeping baby

NymeriaStark · 15/02/2018 22:10

Agree with PP- if he wakes, change him if a heavy nappy. Otherwise don’t wake him! If it’s not causing him to wake and he has no nappy rash etc, it’s obviously not bothering him.

Just to add- only for wees. If a baby poos at night I’d definitely change.

MyDcAreMarvel · 15/02/2018 22:12

Night time nappy changes: are only for poos.

Nappies are very absorbant. I would leave it (unless it’s dirty)

What they all said!

I use the white Metanium barrier cream - nappy is changed at 9pm and 9.5mo DD wakes around 7am (she feeds twice overnight), and her skin is perfect. She never poops at night though (of course she’d be changed if she did) - my DS was a prolific night-pooper until he was much older which was so much more of a faff overnight.

Since about 3 months I’ve put DD in extra dry nappies at night and only changed if she’s pooed. It made a big difference to night wakings as changing her nappy was really waking her up

Thanks everyone :) I was just trying to weigh up if it was better to change just a nappy before bed at 11 or risk a whole outfit/sleeping bag change in the middle of the night sometime if he leaks through 🙈 We use Aldi nappies but I’ll maybe have a look for some extra dry ones :)
