Title says it all really! LO used to be asleep for 7, wake once in night for a bottle and then sleep to 6.30am. Oh how I miss those days!!!!
Now he's waking every 30-50 mins all night!!!! What's this about? He wakes up crying out as if he's had a bad dream and will only settle if picked up. Shushing and patting do not work, neither does dummy that he used to love!
This is now affecting naps in the day as he's so tired.
Any ideas on cause/ way to help? He is genuinely upset when waking but I can't pinpoint whats happening. Ideas gratefully received!

You hace my sympathy, sleep deprivation is a killer. What do you do when he wakes?

Iusuallylovecake · 21/01/2018 02:12

I'm cuddling him at the moment! I'm worried that this is what he wants but he absolutely screams when he wakes. Just took 20 mins of walking around with him just to calm him. Then I put him back and try patting and stroking with a dummy but he builds back up to hysteria. It's horrible!
Could it be teething pain???

My 8 month old has been doing this for over a week. First tooth just popped through so I tried pain meds last night and she slept from midnight to 7:30, and just woke from a 2 hour nap (daytime here).

I'd say it's worth a go treating teething pain.

Have you tried feeding him? Sorry if that sounds stupid but it’s not obvious from your posts Smile

Iusuallylovecake · 21/01/2018 10:34

Not stupid at all Everyone!! Last night I fed him at seven then half 11 and he still woke every 20 mins until 2.30am. Then slept til 4.30, fed again and slept til half 8. Whole routine is all over the place at the mo. I think he's wonder enough but am struggling to know what to do!!

Did he finish his bottle st 11pm?

Is it teething? What happens if you give him teething granules or similar?

My DD is 8 months old next week. For the last two weeks we have probably had 9 evenings where she has woken an hour after going down, crying inconsolably. One tooth has poked its way through her gums in this time and when she wakes she's desperately chewing on her fingers. I give a dose of either Calpol or Calprofen at night when this happens. Could it be teething pain? Does he have any other symptoms of teething?

Make yourself a food diary your little one has probably just started weaning and maybe ready for some bigger portions. Two of the reasons the children wake at random times and don’t get into a deep sleep is because they are hungry or at this time of year they might be cold. At 7 half months they should be having three meals a day and 2 to 3 formula or breast feeds. Also a mid-morning snack and possibly supper as they are very active and Burn off lots of calories. If they are wearing a growbag they need a long sleeve vest as well as the babygro so their arms are not too cold.
