Fighting naps

My 13 week old for the last 3/4 weeks has been going insane before every nap and bedtime. He doesn’t take too long to fall asleep but it ends up with us having to rock him to sleep (takes 2 minutes I would say) the reason we rock is because he won’t atop hysterically crying otherwise

I’ve tried to put him down after 1st yawn, 3rd yawn, eye rubbing. After 50 Min awake time after 1.5 hour awake time. If I leave him longer sometimes he’s so tired he knocks out witha. Dummy but not always.

I’ve tired bouncy chair, lights on, lights off, white noise

In fact the moment I hold him against me chest for cuddles he’s goes mad it’s like he knows the nap is coming and doesn’t want it. So I’ve tried holding him looking out sometimes this works if he’s tired himself out from year

Everything makes him go husterical and only rocking solves it. I don’t fancy getting into a rocking habit so wot can I do?

Ps drops of in car and pram with no protest but I can’t go on 4 walks a day! And if he doesn’t nap he gets cranky and upset.

He’s not hungry either

At night he’s a bit a nightmare too but that’s another thread!

I was about to post a similar issue.... Dd (14 wks) cannot go to sleep on her own. We rock. But she's fighting it more and more as she knows what's coming. She's rejected car seat and pram. Won't take a dummy. This morning I rocked for an hour and a half eye she was screaming and then slept for 30 minutes. I can't put down when she's asleep, nevermind "awake but drowsy". I'm doing three walks a day with her in a sling and dh walks her to sleep in the evening. She hates it,i hate it. No idea what to do. I'm just living from nap to nap right now.

Sorry that's no help to you! But you are not alone. Sadly!

Awake but drowsy is a dream I wouldn’t even attempt right now!
Sorry she’s rejecting the car and pram I hope ours doesn’t start that too!
Have u tried timing the naps at various times to see if crying less?
It doesn’t take mine long to fall asleep but I hate how much he fights it he kicks and trashes about and it hurts!

Yes since Christmas we've been trying naps at roughly the same time each day. With flexibility for when she doesn't sleep or wakes up early. Max time awake 1.5-2 hours. We don't really know what time she wants to go to bed. Whether she needs it earlier or later. Bedtime is the worst.

It's currently the only thing I do really! On the other hand I wonder if I worry about it too much. So hard to know!

Mine only manages 1hr to 1hr 15 awake before sleepy sigs come
Tempted to wait till 2 hours and see wot happens
Yes me too, everyone keeps saying I have to stop rocking as devolp a bad habits but then nothing else works!!!!!! Then I wonder if he will grow out of it but I can’t be rocking him when he’s bigger and also when I go back to work in the middle of the night.
