10 Month old suddenly wont go to sleep at night!!!!

My LO is 10months old and has always been a very good sleeper sleeping 11-12hours solidly through the night from around 8/10 weeks of age. He has always sent himself off to sleep with me lying him in his cot awake, giving him his label blanket and he would be asleep withing 5-10 minutes.

Suddenly over the last two weeks he screams and cries as soon as we go into his bedroom. I lie him down and he get straight back up standing, screaming and crying in the cot. I have tried to leave him and stood outside the door but he got so upset I haven’t done this again since Sad

Tonight he got so upset once I put him in the cot that he cried until he was sick. This was even after I’d picked him out of the cot and tried soothing him and rocking him in my arms. He is definitely tired as he is almost falling asleep from exhaustion.

Has anyone else had anything like this? I’m really hoping it’s just a phase as I hate to see him so upset and he is getting himself very worked up.

Any advice would be much appreciated Smile sorry for the long post!!

My almost 10month old is exactly the same! Im having to sit for about an hour holding his hand just to get him to think about being asleep! Hes tired as he is rubbing his eyes just wont give in!

We had this in the middle of December with DS. He'd stand up in his cot screaming his head off, took over an hour some nights for him to eventually get to sleep. We'd keep going back in, kiss on the head, lie him back down, and he'd pop right back up again. It was horrible.
However, I'm pleased to report it was indeed just a phase. He's back to normal now.
Good luck, it wasn't fun.

Some nights we just gave up, brought him back down into the living room and he came up to bed with us at our bedtime (in bed with us)
My DS is a few months older, but for us it actually coincided with him starting nursery 2 days a week so we think it may have been separation anxiety kicking in

At least we aren’t alone! Thank you for coming back to me. I’ve never known him to be like this. My LO has been in childcare since 5months and loves the lady who looks after him 4 days per week so I don’t think it is this.

ScrunchyBook - How long did this phase last for you? I’m coming up to week 3 and I am so tired with Work and no sleep. It’s exhausting and draining to see him like this Sad

FudgeyCookie - I hope it gets better for you soon. Like you I am determined to keep him In his cot to sleep even if it means holding his hand for 2hrs each evening just so he will drift off. Is your little one waking in the night once asleep?

No waking in the night. Once asleep he stays asleep. Although i have just gone back to work so maybe it is seperation anxiety!

Tonight was better. Hope its getting better for you!

Probably lasted about that long, they are strange little creatures. Fingers crossed he's back to normal for you soon
