Naps I am so desperate

All my DC have been absolutely horrific sleepers and I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. They seem like no other babies i know.

They just will not nap. Never 'dropped' off in the buggy or car. Never 'conked out' in front of the tv or so tired they were falling asleep in xyz.

All their naps have always had to be carefully adhered to and basically forced.

I'm doing it again now with DC4 (6mo) and I'm finding it so upsetting. Just so much crying and I don't know how to fix it.

Ps have been trying since birth. Never fed to sleep, hasn't fallen asleep on my since about twice weeks old so it isn't a kicking sleep crutches situation.

Afraid I don't have any help to offer. Would it be appalling advice to say have you tried deliberately introducing some sleep crutches? Would you accept feeding to sleep if it it got more sleep in total? It's a very powerful soporific.

I would say you shouldn't feel like you're doing something wrong. Not all babies sleep easily, some seem to take a long time to work it out.

Mine is the same but I only have the one currently! She has to have pitch black and white noise at home or mostly be carried in the sling outside the house. Sounds like you could give feeding to sleep a go, if what you’re doing isn’t working anyway!

Thanks for replies!

Have tried feeding but that just means waking with wind fifteen mins later regardless of being really thoroughly winded!!!

Try giving a dummy

crazychemist · 06/01/2018 14:03

That sounds hard :-( keep trying different things, something will work eventually!

Mine weren't/aren't sleepers either and I honestly can't fathom that some people can put their baby down and they just drop off. DS2 fights it every step of the way and sometimes I just don't have the energy to force it. You're not alone Thanks.
