Sleep training a 30-something year old

9 month old DS is sleeping for longer stretches in his own cot, thank heavens, but the problem is I’m now having problems sleeping because I’m so on edge waiting for him to wake up for his next feed (for a number of reasons I’m still BF a couple of times a night and am relatively happy to continue this for now).

I think it’s also because I’m over tired (like, bone-achingly tired by the time I drop into bed).

I remember having a similar issue around the 3 month mark when he started sleeping a little better after the newborn phase.

Anyone else have baby-related insomnia?

Hopefully someone more helpful will come along. But I’m in the same boat, I look at four hours of broken sleep as an achievement - I have a younger baby but he’s a great sleeper, but he’s my second and even before I fell pregnant I heard every movement and noise coming from his brother. The solution was to move him into the bedroom further away when he was 2 and I didn’t need a monitor. I do remember finding that if my bed was hot when climbing back in I’d sleep more easily (though not a deep sleep), so maybe that will help.

Yes. It comes and it goes again. Had been horrendous but mostly ok now ds is a more consistent sleeper. I find my sleep lags behind ds's sleep by a couple of weeks. Easier said than done, but try not to worry about your sleeping, your body will gradually adjust and get some rest even if it's not sleep. Hormones can also play a role.
