14 month old unsettled sleeping

Here i am again which feels like a never ending run of phase after phase Hmm.

My little boy has just started waking up again, over Christmas he was a little unsettled and I put that down to all the excitement and a lot going on for him. Then we got back to normal routines and he had a couple of nights back to sleeping through. Last 2 nights he has not settled at bedtime as usual and last night woke up at 20 to 3 quite distressed. We’re at half 9 nearly tonight and he’s still not gone down and he’s usually down at 7, he just wouldn’t have it at all tonight. Tried leaving him and going back and sitting next to him in his cot but nothing has worked, had to bring him downstairs to calm him down as he was getting in such a state of coughing and gagging. I’m expecting baby number 2 in June so feeling it a bit!

I did notice he’s getting some back teeth through, but can this cause that much disruption? I’m hoping it’s just another phase, as we had one of these for a few nights the other month that felt never ending! But when you’re in them it feels forever! Any suggestions on what could be causing this would be welcome.

newmummy I'm afraid I don't really have any advice but I am going through the exact the same with my 13 month old. She previously had been going down at 6:30pm/7pm but since Christmas this has been anywhere from 8pm to 10pm. Sometimes she sleeps until 8am, this morning it was 5:30am (with a 1:30am wake up too) Hmm

I have put this down to learning to walk (she's constantly just standing up and cruising around her cot flat and teething.. as you say just another glorious phase. Sorry to have no advice, I'm just offering solidarity and quietly muttering "this too will pass"

That’s super helpful to hear I’m not alone! So thank you. My little boy is super close to walking also, so perhaps this is his problem too! He finally settled not long before 10 last night and is still fast on now actually (due at Nursery soon- typical). Glad to hear I’m not alone though, let’s hope we are out of this phase soon!

My LO is coming up to 15 months and has been the same over the last week, last night was better though. Been taking steps for a few months but started properly walking in the last 3 weeks- I’m hoping it’s just a phase!

Thought things had gone a tad better as 2 nights sleeping through and last night settled at bedtime (although this was after a full day at Nursery with only a 1 hour nap). Tonight he’s fighting it again, just hope when he finally settles we get a full night again! So unpredictable these babies aren’t they. I think it’s the not settling which bothers me more as you feel helpless!

newmummy - I think or babies have synchronised sleep schedules as mine was exactly the same the past few nights!! Last night she was up till 8:30 and screamed any time we went anywhere near her room or cot in an effort to put her down. It's a phase. So they say Hmm

happydays I sympathise so much! I’m sorry you are going through it too but so nice to feel like I’m not alone. He slept until half 8 this morning seen as though it was nearing 10 he went off!! But can’t cope with the evenings being lost. Hope it’s a quick phase!
