So all week, 11 to 12 weeks old DS has gone back to 90min to 2 hourly night feeds. I'm knackered!! Is this another bad growth spurt??? I thought it wasnt due for another week Confused. He was sleeping for 4-6 hour chunks before this.

How long does this one last???

Does sound like a growth spurt. Are you BF or bottle? Every baby is different and the dates for growth spurts are rough guides, not every baby will follow the same pattern.

This happens a lot. My 6 mo was back to 2 hourly feeds a few nights last week. There are so many growth spurts, leaps and regressions they go through - just make the most of sleep when you can get it (this may mean having the same bedtime as baby for a while and napping with them in the day if you are able).

I'm ebf. Sigh. Soooooo sleepy!!

This happened to me too - at first I thought it was a growth spurt, but actually 6 weeks later I think it was the 4 month regression come early. The difficulty you have is that they start waking because their sleep changes, you think it's a growth spurt so you start feeding at night, then they start actually getting hungry at night!

I've had really mixed advice, latest HV told me to try baby rice as formula doesn't seem to have made a difference for me, but that's contrary to a lot of other advice I've heard.

I think sadly it's just a phase, if you can try not to feed every time it's probably a good idea but I've struggled with that because he just cries more so I end up awake longer!

Good luck! X

We're back to 2 hourly feeds at 5 months, sadly. Can't anything for granted, so it seems.

Jellybabie3 · 30/12/2017 18:09

Ah ok. Its difficult to know what to do but the reality is in the middle of the night i will opt to feed!

@Jellybabie3 completely it's bloody hard to try something different at 4am and often makes it worse because it wakes you up more!

18 week old here now feeding every two hours at night after previously sleeping for up to six hours at a stretch. Totally different to her brother who consistently slept for eight hours from 10 weeks. I have no idea what is going on. I am probably making a rod for my own back but I feed her back to sleep. A few people have said she has got noticeably longer all of sudden so maybe it is a growth spurt. She has also recently sussed how to roll over. I’ve heard people say physical and mental developments can change sleep patterns. Either way, it’s nuts, isn’t it, and very tiring.

Totally normal. Sleep goes up and down for the first year, my 11 month old woke twice last night but last month was awake almost every hour. It’s really hard but honestly you get more used to it as time goes on.
