Time to drop nap?

My lb is 21 months, he will go down for a nap around midday with not much fuss. He will sleep for 1 to 1.5 hours, probably more if I let him. However, when it comes to bedtime it’s a nightmare. Earliest he will get to sleep is 9:30 - last night 11:30!!

Should I be dropping his nap during the day? Even if he sleeps for just 1/2 hour it’s the same thing at bedtime.

Mine dropped hers at 18 months. I know it's quite young and some children nap till they're over 3 but my DD was like your DS and now she's 13 and still doesn't need as much sleep as many.

It didn't work every time as some days she'd nod off...but I let that happen naturally. She'd go most days with no nap...then now and then, she'd fall asleep in her buggy or on the sofa and I'd leave her for no more than 40 minutes.

Thank you :)

They're all different. My 2 year old will have a 2 hour nap after lunch and still go to bed at 19:00 and sleep through til 6:09. My almost 4 year old only dropped her after dinner nap about 6 months ago too.

My dd1 dropped her nap at 22 months. I grieved till I realised she dropped to sleep at 7pm every night whilst being read to instead of it taking two hours! I would drop the nap.

I will give it a try! The nap will be missed but I would prefer a reasonable bedtime! Thank you

Mine dropped her nap between 17-18 months .
Now at 22 months if she even has 20 minutes nap she won't sleep till 8:30-9 where as with no nap she sleeps 6:30pm-7-8am am .

Wow thank you! Thought it was too early but it’s reassuring we’re not the only ones!
