18 month old waking for long periods at night

Hi all. Until she was 3 months my DD was a reasonably good sleeper for a newborn. Something happened at 4 months and since then she has never slept well. Until 10 months she woke 8-10 times a night. As her solids increased she began sleeping better with just 1-2 wakings.

She has co slept with us on and off which I know hasn't helped but we have an older daughter who was also being woken by her crying. She has also had one cold after another and for us all to get more sleep we sometimes co sleep.

Since she was about 6 months old her day time naps have been 40 minutes and no longer. If she sleeps later in the afternoon she is then awake all night and won't go to sleep until 10/11.

We have got through all of this just about hanging on by a thread but the last 2 weeks she has had a cold, I think is teething and started waking at 1am and being awake until 5/6. We are all shattered.

We have rocked we had tried to co sleep we have held her hand in the cot we have tried controlled crying but I don't like it and it doesn't seem to work (worked with older daughter after 2 nights). Nothing works and we are all shattered, including her as she never really makes up the lost time
In naps in the day, she might have 1hr15 nap instead of 40 minutes.

Older daughter also wakes at 6am every morning so we literally get about 3 hours sleep per night.

Any advice Much much appreciated.
