Self-settles but then wakes... and wakes and wakes. WHY??

My 9 month old was pretty easy at night until recently. Nev slept through, but did regular 4/5 hour stretches and sometimes longer.

Since about 8 months it's gone badly down hill and now he wakes every 1.5-2 hours all night, every night and will only bf back to sleep. I'm exhausted.

He doesn't feed to sleep at the beginning of the night. His routine is bath, bf, inot sleeping.bag, story, brief rocking and singing and then into his cot awake where he rolls about for 5 or 10 mins and then falls asleep. If he's cracked the magical self-settling at the beginning of the night, why does he want to feed back to.sleep all night? !?

He is teething, but doesn't seem in pain, and on the occasions we've given.calpol or ibuprofen in case his teeth are keeping him awake.it hasn't made a difference to his sleep.

Any advice or.similar experiences? Apologies for typos - I'm shattered, on my phone in the dark with (you've guessed it) a baby latched on for the umpteenth time tonight...

Yep, my bf 1 year old was like this for months. From 10 moms he started doing longer stretches again (sometimes 5-7 hrs) and waking slightly less frequently. I'm still knackered but compared to waking every 2 hours it's much better. His bigger problem now is the inability to settle after 4am.

This too shall pass. Hopefully we won't have died of sleep deprivation before it does...

He's also just got four teeth...

There's a major sleep regression at this age, that'll be your culprit. It will pass.
