Help! My 6 month old is v poorly with chicken pox. Some spots are infected, he is totally covered in them. So I've been holding him to calm him, soothe, stop the screaming etc.
Only problem now is, as you've guessed, he'll only sleep at night when being held. I've tried patting, shushing, dummy it's not working and I'm on night 5 of less than 3 hrs sleep and I can't do it!
What can we do? He's still I'll so can't sleep train but also how do I get any sleep?
I know I've created the sleep association but he's been so poorly he needed the comfort.
Any ideas? TIA

He's still in our room in a crib type thing. I've tried holding hands, gently patting but he screams more and more. I'll try again tho!!Smile

Mine was the same with CP in the summer. Would literally only sleep lying ON me. She and I swapped half way through the night, and just let him, poor thing. I went to bed with him at 7 for a few nights, then he started to do a couple of hours on his own. When he was better we just persevered with the cot and it didn't take too long

So basically. Let him do whatever he needs for now, cosleep lets you sleep more, it'll pass!

DH and I swapped

Don't worry about sleep associations when baby is poorly. One-off periods of needing extra comfort will always happen, to all children. Just do whatever baby needs.

Will they lie on a pillow next/near you? I have a tempur and the only thing I could roll slide my kid over onto

Thank you all! Ended up holding him for 5 nights but last night he just snuggled into his crib and went to sleep!!! Worst of chicken pox is over and he isn't dependent on us!! So relieved! Thank you again for ideas! Smile
