I was wondering if you can get a side cot for a bsby older than 6 months - all the ones I can see are up to 6 months only.

You can take off one side of most cots. Any cot that comes flat pack and with adjustable mattress heights (which is most cots on sale) can have one side removed really easily using an allen key.

Then wedge it up to your bed and Bob's your Uncle. Google images "sidecar cot" for more examples.

Yes, normal cots with one side removed and pushed up to the bed work fine.
