Help for an early riser?

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone could offer any advice for my 11 month old.

He wakes up every morning between 4:30 and 5am, 5:30am if I'm lucky. It doesn't seem to make a difference what naps he's had and he always wakes early.

I don't think 5:30 is bad but the 4:30am wake ups are killing me.

This was his day yesterday:

5am wake
8:50am - nap for 50 mins
12:45 - nap for 45 mins
6pm - bedtime

I've tried trying to get him to nap later and push bed Time back but he is just so shattered he falls asleep anyway.

Can anyone suggest anything I can try to remedy this?

Thanks

Sounds like you have already tried this but my 7mo used to wake between 4:30 and 5:30an and it was killing me. I moved his first nap later by only an hour max. And he now sleeps in till 6:30am.

If you have already tried this, sorry, I’m not sure what else you could do. But sympathies, 4:30am is hellish.

Thank you for replying.
It might be worth me trying again with the later morning nap.

I will try anything!

Bring him into your bed for cuddles and sleep.

We have tried that *chaos he just screams and cries. It's awful.

I would absolutely love cuddles in bed with him but he hates it. Makes me quite sad actually but that's just his personality.

Try pushing his bed time back by an hour. So 7pm bedtime becomes 5:30-6:30 get up which is what our ds does. You may need to push his bedtime back by 10
Mins each day until you reach 7pm

More/longer naps? He could be over tired. If he's awake by 1:30, would he catnap 4-4:30 and then bedtime at 6:30, asleep for 7, hoping for a 6am start and some longer naps.

My 11mo wakes by 6:30, naps 9-10 and 1-3 and then goes to bed at 7.

If my child was having naps less than an hour, awake time would be 2 hours. So at least 3 naps per day.

I'd probably aim for
7am wake
9 to 9.45/10am nap
12 to 12.45/1pm nap
3 to 3.45/4pm nap
Bedtime 7/7.30pm (extended awake time just before bed)

Or while waking super early it would be:
5am wake
7 to 7.45/8am nap
10 to 10.45/11am nap
1 to 1.45/2pm nap
4 to 4.45/5pm nap
8/8.30pm bedtime (extended awake time just before bed)

My LO is the same and I have concluded it’s because at 4/5am it is much more difficult to sleep (just naturally they are in a lighter phase of sleep). Mine would sleep at that time if I rocked and held for the rest of the night. So I need to get him better at learning to settle to sleep. If yours could sleep, but only if very specific requirements are met (!), it might be the same issue. If not, it might be more of a routine issue as mentioned above.
