Planning to night wean

My DD s 10.5 months old... Planning to night wean becoz she wakes every hour since 8 th month... Plz advice..

When she cries at night how to make her calm without feeding... She s not practiced to bottle yet.. n she also don't like formula...

Have you tried offering her water instead of milk? Do you have a partner?

I offered her water.. she drinks water but cries afterwards... Yes I do ve partner

Can you get your partner to be the one to get up? If you get up, the baby associates you with breast milk...

But she cries when my hubby goes to settle her .. he also offered milk from bottle.. but no use..

She's still very small OP...is she eating much of her solid food during the day? How much is she breastfeeding in the day?

She breastfeed 3 times before and after her nap,..she takes 4 times meal... Morning porridge, afternoon rice, snacks fruits or veggie 2 oz, night dinner

My DS is also 10.5 months and I started gradual nightweaning last week. I’ve decided to offer him his last feed at 10.30/11pm when we go to bed (he usually wakes up then) and then not offer milk until 4am. He usually wakes at 1.30am for a feed so I’ve been going in and cuddling and rocking back to sleep without feeding. We also offer the sippy cup of water. Mixed results so far. He was very angry for the first couple of nights and cried off and on for hours. It was very hard. But this week has been better - he’s still waking up but has been quicker to settle (on good nights this is taking 20 minutes for him to be back in his cot asleep). He even settled for my husband, which doesn’t normally happen. I think he’s starting to understand that he won’t always get milk when he wakes up.

I forgot to add that he’s a breastfed baby who usually wakes for feeds every 2-3 hours. I’m not fully night weaning yet - I’m happy to give a feed before I go to bed and one more before he wakes. But over time I will work to drop one more feed.

Try to include more meat, protein and carbohydrates in her diet each day.

Thank you ... It gives me courage to start on her... Yesterday I tried but she cries a lot arching her back n not settling.... She s settling only if she knew that I m going to feed her... She wakes every hour... Every hour she expect me to feed her...

Only reason why I would like to wean her is she makes it habit to feed to fall asleep...

You’ve nothing to lose by trying. Just prepare yourself for a few tough nights to start with. If you don’t feel she’s ready you can always stop and re-start later. Every hour is hard going. A mum at one of my baby classes has a one year old who was feeding every 30 minutes to an hour - she decided to wean at 11.5 months, she said it took a week for things to improve. She just cuddled her instead of feeding. Now she even self settles in the cot!

Ritualunion... The problem here s she don't want cuddle as well.. she just arch back.. my friends adviced me to wean first at day time... Then at night... I m really confused...

My baby didn’t want a cuddle at first but he’s starting to learn that he doesn’t always get milk. He actually cried off and on for hours the first time.

12 hours is a long time for a baby to go without anything at all. Are you going to do a dreamfeed?
