Only 20 more months to go then hey 😶😂

anotherexhaustedpigeon · 06/12/2017 21:43

@Sakura03 my HV advised to pump from one side while feeding on the other, then switch both sides over to get hindmilks and then even switch baby back a third time if necessary. Also going to recommend Hakaa pump again as it's silent and so easy! Good luck 😁

Hoping we all get a good chunk of sleep tonight. Apparently crappy early sleepers end up sleeping well and vice versa. I feel DD is medium - so will be ups and downs forever I guess 🙄

Meepmoop · 06/12/2017 22:11

Finally got DS to settle and sleep on me. If I move even slightly he screws his face up and cries. Looong night ahead for me

Sakura03 · 06/12/2017 22:25

Thank you @GingerHanna and @anotherexhaustedpigeon that’s good to know, not so scared to get started now😊
Ds has just slept for 50 minutes and wants feeding, so could be a while before we can go off to bed. I’m hungry and have made myself some toast.

HashtagTired · 07/12/2017 00:49

Feed #1
Yawn.

I'll take ds into town to go shopping today to get some of this Christmas spirit back. I seemed to have lost it the last couple of days, just ever so slightly.

Sakura03 · 07/12/2017 01:59

We're up for a feed after Ds' 2 hours sleep. I feel it's getting worse when it comes to him latching on, he gets frustrated, screams and spits the nipple out so I kind of have to hold him firmly otherwise he'll just scream the house down in frustration. He pinches my boob as well (He's bloody strong for a small baby). This is all new behaviour that has started roughly within the last week..

Jellybabie3 · 07/12/2017 02:10

Hi all, feed #1 here after going down around 10.30pm. DS is still recovering from his jabs yesteday. Had another fever this afternoon poor little mite so was back on the calpol. Nurse warned he couid have a month of diarrhea....I laughed and said he was runny enough normally but as it turns out there is a new type of runny so I get your Korma poos @HashtagTired. They just now go up to his armpits. DS just farted in his sleep which luckily I heard as it was a wet one 🙊thank god i heard it. DS most unimpressed for being woken so is currently being consoled on the boob.

Weather sounds horrendous so anticipating a pj day here.

Jellybabie3 · 07/12/2017 02:12

#Sakura03 sorry to hear ds has started playing up. Just wanted to say i found the 3 week mark the hardest and i was tearing my hair out but once past it, things have been getting much better week on week. I hope the same is for you

Jellybabie3 · 07/12/2017 02:20

Sat here looking at amazon deals of the day. Stocking fillers are on which i have filtered to 'baby'. To my suprise it results in temporary tattoos.....interesting......

Is it wrong i am contemplating it?

AccrualIntentions · 07/12/2017 02:48

DD has been asleep for an hour after screaming the place down for an hour before that, and now I'm too wired to sleep. Argh!

actino · 07/12/2017 02:55

Hi, everyone. 1 hour into feed #2 here. So, I do indeed have mastitis and last night was an awful feverish night with a very sore and tender boob. I got antibiotics today and my fever is down to 36.5. Dd did give me 5 continuous hours of sleep last night, so at least I got good rest. My mom is also in town, so she's been doing most of the childcare for me while I sleep all day.

Tonight had been going ok and I'm hoping that tomorrow the fever will be gone.

GingerHanna · 07/12/2017 03:25

Two hours to feed and settle. Now I have to pump. And now he starts crying again. Please sleep. Please. If he keeps crying I’m getting DH. I feel totally broken. This feed was just 2.5 hours from the last one and that was stretching it out by 20 minutes.

We just keep going backwards. I am absolutely at my wits end

HashtagTired · 07/12/2017 03:33

Feed #2 after 2.5 hours sleep so went 3 hours which is good for him.
@GingerHanna go and get dh. You need a break. Get some rest Thanks

GingerHanna · 07/12/2017 03:41

He’s settled now. If this current pattern continues he’ll wake within half an hour of finishing pumping.

Really don’t want to wake DH as he is catching up from doing the early shift. I didn’t get to bed until near 22:00 and with DS waking early for his feed got around four hours sleep only. DH got a couple in that time so I really want to let him sleep if at all possible. I am just so fed up with this. How can we be getting worse each night?

HipHipHippo · 07/12/2017 04:08

This evening started with my newborn weeing in our bed after his bath and it has just gotten worse.
Up at 3 for a feed and a poo nappy, finally get all settled when my 2 year old wakes up crying because she's wet the bed (and over half of her dad).
Ok strip the bed...no more clean bedding. Looks like three of us will be sleeping on a bare mattress. Lovely.
Everyone back into bed when newborn decides to projectile vomit all over himself and the last set of clean bedding and sleeping bag I have for him (been out all day, no chance for washing).
Not quite sure what to do now...

GingerHanna · 07/12/2017 04:19

He slept for 50 minutes. That’s all. I pumped, lay down and 10 minutes later he is awake. Something is not right. This just cannot be normal. Trying to remember to track sleep in app now as well as nappies and feeds. Just wish DH would remember without my constant nagging.

Back on the boob now. Six week check up with midwife today so will mention the sleep / feed issues. Also have the home support coming Monday so will raise then if it’s not improved.

NinaMarieP · 07/12/2017 05:01

LO is still stuffed up with the cold here. He's had saline up his nose and snot sucked out with an aspirator. He has snufflebabe rub on his chest and feet plus a calpol plug in going. He still can't breathe properly in his snuzpod even with a blanket under the mattress to raise his head. So he's been propped up in my arms since before 2.30am.

OP posts:
DryHeave · 07/12/2017 05:51

Thanks all for your replies before - LO and I are home, episode was unexplained but possibly due to the shock of the birth. He was himself again yesterday.

After an epic feed finishing at 1:30am, he’s still asleep but I can hear him gently stirring. It’s what I needed after zero sleep in the hospital (snoring, beeping, crying, obs checks).

Trying to hold off and let him wake and ask for food but my boobs are tingling with anticipation!

Ceesadoo · 07/12/2017 06:03

@NinaMarieP it's so hard when they can't breathe properly. I hate colds. Grrrr. As exhausting as it is, sometimes doing what you've done and propping him in your arms is the best thing for them.

Ceesadoo · 07/12/2017 06:06

@DryHeave Did you wait for him to wake? You can always hand express a little to relieve the engorgement.

Shit night here. He woke up 6 times after 1030. I said I'd never sleep train but if he's still sleeping like this at 6+ months, maybe I will to get some sanity. This sleep regression is miserable.

Ceesadoo · 07/12/2017 06:09

@HipHipHippo You definitely win the shittest night award. That amount of bodily fluids on your bed is beyond a joke. I literally don't know what I'd do if that happened 3+ times in one night besides lose the will to live.

Ceesadoo · 07/12/2017 06:11

@GingerHanna Do you have to pump? You must be so exhausted. Especially breast feeding so regularly too.

GingerHanna · 07/12/2017 06:16

@Ceesado - for now yes as otherwise I will risk mastitis. Need to gradually ween off it and get milk supplies from pumping at other times. Annoyingly it is the highest production time of the day.

We have a record low of just two hours between feeds now. This is simply the worst it has ever been. My head is pounding due to dehydration (my fault) and exhaustion. Glad I am leaving DS with DH today whilst I am out as I really need a break.

Ceesadoo · 07/12/2017 06:19

@Jellybean2017 oh goodness.. Same here. Rocking baby to sleep and feeding baby to sleep.. driving baby to sleep, walking baby to sleep in pram. Apparently we are ruining our babies with all these sleep associations. I don't need to breast feed to sleep now. I'm sure our babies will be just fine. And if they aren't Never mind. As if I'm going to wake my full & sleeping breast fed baby before putting him down in his crib so he can 'learn' to fall asleep by himself. I could always tap his chest while saying shhhhh thio because that's a really quick and effective way to send him off when he's screaming. Fml.

Ceesadoo · 07/12/2017 06:22

@GingerHanna Why are you at risk of mastitis? I understand why you must pump then. Bloody nightmare though.

You must be so thirsty!! I always have to have st least one 1.5ltr bottle of water by me when nursing or i get super thirsty. It must be double worse when pumping on top of feeding.

Hope you manage a little rest today during your break. Hug.
