Holding hands to fall asleep

Sounds cute....and I thought it was at 1st....but now I've realised I've made a big mistake and it is definitely not cute now it takes 20-30 mins for 13month old DS to fall asleep at bed time! He also has several wake ups at night and he needs the same...my hand/fingers to rub etc in order to get back to sleep 😣
He has a dummy which he loves and a comforter that he's had from birth, but despite using it for every feed (breast initially and now bottle) he's not attached to that at all...infact he throws it out of the cot given the opportunity!
Any tips?! How the heck can I wean him from my 'fingers' 🙈😂

Like ripping a plaster off! Or get him something slightly rubbery to hold. Maybe a fake mannequin's hand! Grin

😂 I have contemplated taking a limb off of DDs doll 🙈
Cold turkey then....arghhh...that will involve a lot of crying 😕 I've never gone down the sleep training...CC route...which I guess is inevitable now unless I indulge him 😣 Such a cuddly, sweet little boy I don't know if I can do it! DD was a little demon and actually wanted to fall asleep by herself...hated cuddles...still does at 3.5! And will not co-sleep even on hols etc.....funny how they're all different x

Can you gradually reduce the time you hold his hand to sleep rather than cold turkey? If you look at gentle ways to reduce nursing and rocking it would essentially be the same sort of thing
