Suddenly fighting sleep

Hi everyone,

I have a ten week old DS. Until recently, he would nap well during the day if I held him/had him in the sling. He would typically wake at 7, nap 8.30-9, then 11-1 and then 4-5. Obviously it varied every day but the total amount of sleep would stay the same. In the night he would sleep 7-9 on his own, then approx 10-1, 2-5 and 5-7, waking up for feeds. Sometimes we needed to co sleep but I haven't minded that as I know they need to be close when they are so little.

But since Friday, he's just been refusing sleep, even when held/rocked/in the sling. Yesterday he napped for ten minutes total in the whole day despite me trying all of the usual tricks. He did sleep a bit in the night but only when held and constantly tapped. He is exhausted and so am I but nothing is working, not even the car or pushchair.

Any ideas why a ten week old would suddenly refuse sleep? The longer it goes on for the crankier he gets!

I have no advice, just to say that I'm going through the same with my 11 week old! Micro naps, except in the sling where she can do a couple of hours if I keep moving. But I'm shattered...

I’d say go to gp in case there’s any ear/throat infection causing discomfort

If it's a very sudden change then I'd go with lots of extra TLC, adopt a philosophy of "any sleep, any how" and have a couple of days of 4 hourly Calpol to the maximum 4 doses in 24 hours.
