Help - awake periods during the night?

My DS has got into a habit of waking very early, normally 4am but last night 3:30am! Then being awake for hour and half - 2 hours like he would during the day. He goes back to sleep after this so it’s like he’s basically just having a nap.

Does anyone else little ones do this and please say it’s a phase? He always has a poo so don’t know if that’s waking him up, or teething.

He goes to bed at 7pm so is only getting 9 hrs of night sleep if he wakes at 4am. Surely that’s not enough. Overall he’s orobably getting the same amount of sleep with more naps.

I struggle to get back to sleep after being awake for 2 hours so I’m basically up from 3:30-4am and it’s horrible!

how’s his routine overall?

It’s quite a lose routine. I go by 2 hour awake time and stick to that. So depending on his morning wake time and nap lengths, his naps are pretty much never the same time every day. He normally has 3 naps or more recently 4 as they have been short. Bedtime is always 7pm and he self settles easy for this (but rarely for naps)

Phase! That old chestnut. This happened to us at 6 months and passed x

IS he crying when he wakes up in the night or is he awake and happy?
If it’s the former I would blame teeth or hunger or feeling cold.
If it’s the latter then it’s most likely routine linked.
