14 months routine

Hi, wondering if anyone can advise... 14 month old, usually sleeping through the night 7-5.30, tired when he wakes up but won't go back to sleep, grumpy though. We've been having trouble getting 2 naps in, hard to put him down and having to wake him from both, so are usually on one nap day now, but he's wanting to sleep 3+ hours! Eg 1030-2pm. He's usually happier then in the afternoon

I can't work out what would be best, try harder with 2 nap days (no chance in nursery days, 3 days pw), let him sleep as long as he wants in the day, or wake him as he's sleeping too long in the day. Just persevere with one nap?? I have a 4yo too so can't really be doing pram walks etc.

Tbh I wouldn't mind that much 0530 starts but he seems tired

I would do a short nap 9.40-10 then a 1-3 lunchtime nap OR push the start of his one nap back by 15 mins every day until it was closer to 12.30-3.
Then try the 7pm bedtime but might be more like 7.30pm. He will be more likely to sleep to 6.30am in both of these scenarios.

Thanks. He does sometimes go down after lunch at nursery but I guess it would need to be consistent. I'm not sure waking him after such a short morning nap would go down well so I think I'll try the other.

Just feel like he's not my usual happy boy right now, it's a tough stage!

We do wake at 6-6.30, nap for 30-40mins at 9ish and then a 2 hour nap 2-4 that she sometimes has to be woken from then bath at 7 and usually asleep by 8ish. The morning nap is always a fight so if she won’t sleep she has to cuddle with me in a dark room for a while.

Our routine at 14 months is only one daytime nap. We them awake in the morning (they get a bit grotty about 11am) then nap at 1pm usually until 3/3.30pm. Bedtime at 7pm and they sleep through until 7/7.30am

*We keep them awake

Thanks everyone, looks like he needs to be napping later, and not as long. Will give it a go

A three hour nap is fine. DD can nap 2.5-3 hours as well as sleeping 7-7.

She's just transitioning to one nap and I often can get her down for two. I would start pushing it back 15 mins every few days but DD is down by 11.30/12pm
