7 month old not sleeping

hi, i am feeling absolutely desperate! My 7 month old dd has appeared to have lost the ability to fall asleep by herself. Up until recently she has been fine but now when she moves in her sleep she wakes herself up and because she is starting to crawl she moves into a crouched position in her sleep and knocks her head on the cot. She can only be pacified by the breast or me lying next to her on our bed until she falls asleep. If I try to put her in her cot when she is drowsy she screams and protests. I am not an advocate of controlled crying but I am at my wits end. Can this behaviour be due to teething (the bottom 2 are through and there are signs that the top ones might be on their way. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi

DS2 is 8 months old and I have been thro' exactly the same situation. I hate CC as well.
I've put it down to a combination of teething (his bottom two teeth have just poked through) or separation anxiety. It has seemed to ease a little over the past couple of nights. I've started to put ds2 down at night following a feed when he's been very drowsy and been rubbing his tummy either in circles or across from side to side. This seems to have helped. Mind you, I'd be grateful of any advice on this thread too.

Sorry, not much help but you're not alone!
