Dropping the night bottle - 6 month old

I have a baby that is almost 6 months old and awakes every night for a bottle - it will be sometime between 2 or 4am. She then normally awakes at 6 - 6:30 fully awake and ready to start the day. She is on solids and formula : and formula-wise has 5 bottles of approx 7-8 oz per bottle.
Do people think it would be ok to drop the middle of the night bottle when she reaches 6 months : should she logically be able to go from 8pm - 8am without a feed? And if it is ok and people have tried it how did they go about it. DD1 slept through at 8 weeks so I have no idea how to tackle this with dd2.

I dropped the night bf at 8mths, ds woke, cried and demanded for hours on and off, but i didn't give in. The next night i was dreading the same but he only fought for half an hour, and the next night he woke for 5 minutes on the offchance that i might have changed my mind, and never woke for a nightfeed after that. It didn't alter his wake up time either, and that was a real bonus!

Flea - dont know the answers to all your questions but my dd is coming up to 6mths now - 22weeks. She has solids and 4 bottles of 6oz per day. She wont take anyomore than that at any one feed. She wakes up usually around 5-6am and so she has her 'breakfast' bottle then. Its only been the last week that she has stopped waking for one around 12ish. So if she starts to wake again I will try not to feed her as I know she can go longer.
Easch baby is different though. There are some mums ion here whos babys have slept through all night froma very early age. It really depends on your baby. But my opinion is if a baby is on 3 meals a day and taking enough solids in day - which your sounds like she does - then she should be abe to go all night.
If she has a bottle at 4am , does she still drink all the 6am? If so then shes probably hungry - if not then its probably habit and i would try not to feed her. hth.

Just to add a bit more info... She doesn't look for food when she wakes at 6/6:30 : she doesn't have breakfast until 8am. She can be a very unsettled sleeper and in fact last night woke at 2 /4/5/6 and then 6:30 but only really cried at 2 when I fed her! In some ways I don't mind the feeding :its the other times that drive me insane but once she doesn't need feeding during the night I can move her in with her sister and I think she might be a bit more sttled then (i hope)
