Can someone help me figure out what 11 month should sleep on?

We co sleep at the moment with me on a single mattress pushed up against his cot (with side down)

He usually rolls to my side but even before that he rolls so much the cot sides wake him up.

He can crawl and get up stairs slowly

I feel like I want to just buy him a double bed - with very low base. then he's got loads of wiggle room and I can slowly start to retreat back to my own bed but there is space to sleep there when I need to.

Is this a stupid idea at 11 months? Is there such thing as a giant crib? Or sides you can put round an adult bed?

Help - I'm baffled

I co sleep and will probably move my son to a floor bed (literally a matresss on the floor in a room that is completely child proof I.e. no wires, furniture anchored to the wall, no sharp edges, no blind strings hanging down) and then if he works out of bed it'll be no big deal. At the moment we have a kind of mesh barrier on our side of the bed so he can't fall out. So, yes you can get sides for an adult bed!

A mattress on the floor is the safest thing but I use foam wedge bed guards that sit under the sheet. They wouldn’t stop them climbing down but they do stop rolling out. My DD loves hers on her bed and snuggles into them now.

Thanks 😊 how old are your children now? Is 11 months too young?

My DD is 2.5. She’s been in a single bed in her own room since 16mo with me gradually reducing the cosleeping by nightweaning and then sending in DH.

I’m currently cosleeping with my 9mo DS in my king size and we have the foam wedges on both sides of the bed for him. We’ll move at some point when we’re ready to start night weaning.

I don’t think a double bed is a bad idea at all! We’re seriously considering it for our two when we move house.

My in-laws have these www.johnlewis.com/babydan-universal-bed-guard-rail/p231717449

But agree with pp that mattress on floor is safest. Why not start with mattress in your room then gradually move further away from you into baby’s room?
