Two hour wake ups

I have an almost 12 month old who has always been a crap sleeper.

We've got his night wakings down to one per night but it lasts two or three hours! Nothing settles him, not breastfeeding, not cuddles, not white noise, not being put in cot. He's perfectly calm- just bouncing around his cot or wriggling in my arms. If I leave the room he screams though so I end up sleeping on his bedroom floor.

He still has two naps.

Going back to work soon. Help!

It's probably just a phase and he'll grow out if it, hopefully soon. DD1 did this too at 9 months, it was a truly horrific time! Then it just stopped.

Is he learning to walk? Or talk? Or teething? All of the above? I think they just have so much going on at that age developmentally that they decide 3am is a good time to test out their new skills.

I'd keep the cot in my room so I was there (but comfy and able to sleep in my own bed). Then dangle an arm over the cot side or through the bars and aside from that largely ignore.

I tend to wait for this separation anxiety stage (when fine when you're there but unhappy when alone) to finish before moving the cot to another room. I'm far too knackered to be getting up and going ibt o another room in the night.

Learning to walk. Cot doesn't fit in our room
