4 month old rolling in their cot

Hi everyone. So our little lad has discovered that rolling over is fun. However. He does this in his cot. A lot. At bed time. He'll sometimes do it 3/4 times an hour. And we have to spin him back. Now he can roll back but depending on where he is in tue cot it sometimes makes this impossible. Any suggestions as we dont have any answers apart from fretting he is gonna suffocate himself!

Just relax! I freaked out when DS started turning himself over in his cot but as soon as they’re able to turn themselves over they don’t have to sleep on their back. He’s probably just more comfy on his front!

Even with all the grunting and face planting he is doing? Its okay for him to sleep on his front now?

If he can roll both ways, you can just leave him. The face planting is fine. As is wedging up to the cot sides that most do, and limbs tangled through cot bars. It happens, but it's fine.

That said, if it's affecting his sleep and making him wake a lot you might want to look at ways of discouraging rolling around in the cot. A tightly tucked in sheet (across ways all the way around the mattress) may help pin him down a bit.

What do you mean by a tightly tucked sheet? As in over him? Not completely obviously lol

Baby sleeping bag?

I mean like a cot sheet, as you would use a sheet on a bed or in a cot.

Feet to foot, baby in sleeping bag or using blankets, with a cot sheet over baby and tightly tucked in. Like a blanket only thinner. See image.

He's in a sleeping bag. Has been since he was very tiny. He is very kicky. We have tucked his sleeping bag tight under his mattress so he can still move but cant turn over. Fingers crossed. My word what a faff lol

I used to worry but then realised he slept better on his belly! Used the sensor mat with his monitor for peace of mind. Plus a sheet over the top of him tucked in tightly at the sides kept him somewhat still - though he wiggles his way to the top anyway!

Leave him to it ... the bashing on the cot bars is annoying though
