Early waking help!

Hi, I've posted a few times about DS2's sleep. He's now 14 months and is fairly reliable at sleeping from 7/7.30 through to 4-5am.

However somewhere between 4-5am every single morning he wakes up crying and won't settle back down unless either DH or I take him downstairs and lie on the sofa with him - then he'll fall straight back to sleep until about 6.30am.

He won't settle back down in his own cot or in our bed. Once we go in (even though it's dark) he just sits up and wants up. I guess it's a habit we've got into.

I'm exhausted from getting up at this time every day as I don't go back to sleep. I also have an almost 3 year old so I don't get a rest through the day.

I can't let him cry as it'll wake DS1 who will then be super grumpy all day as it'll be unlikely he'll go back to sleep once he's awake.

Any ideas? Sorry didn't mean for the post to be this long!
