1yr old screaming for hours in middle of the night

Any advice or help appreciated

For the last week or so my baby has been waking at about 12pm hysterically crying and will only calm down if the lights are on seemingly wanting to just to be up/play?? He can be up for up to 3 hours at a time and I'm not sure what to do or how to get him to sleep better.

He was sleeping through for weeks previously and when he did wake a rub on the back would send him back to sleep.

I've tried mik/water but he refuses both. He doesn't want to be held, stroked or anything. I usually try and stroke or sing to try and get him back to sleep in his cot first whilst he's screaming then usually resort to taking his downstairs so not to disturb the whole street. After a while he starts yawning again then I take him up and he goes back to sleep.

He naps twice in the day for 40min each time. I posted previously about trying to extend the naps and they just haven't ever got longer. He has a bedtime routines of bath, milk, bed and usually goes down drowsy. In the day he goes down awake with no milk fine.

Anyone with any advice as what I can do to stop these middle of the night meltdowns?? It's started to affect the whole family

When my generally good sleeping DD1 was like this age 1 it was always teeth. Have you tried calpol?

I've tried calpol, sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. We tried nurofen last night which seemed to be better

Is he just 1? I have a few friends whose babies have just turned 1 and they are also going through this as there is a 12-month sleep regression. It should only last a few weeks hopefully.

Yes just turned 1, really hoping it's just a phase, I'm feeling so hopeless.

I'm no expert as DD is not quite 11 months but this article might help...

Sorry you're being put through the wringer, I hope it ends soon Flowers
