Have just bought Baby Whisperer book (Solves All Your Problems) and am considering starting PUPD method with my 8 month old who currently wakes 2-3 times a night, still feeds during the night and needs rocking to sleep (although I do manage to put him down quite often when he's not fully out). Any advice/suggestions?

Only PU when genuinely distressed (not just complaining/grumbling). PD as soon as not genuinely distressed. Hover when you first put him down to do this rather than constantly going up and down the stairs and to minimise genuine distress. Rope dh in and tell him exactly what you're doing and what the aim is and agree when you'll swap over (if necessary). Be totally consistent in all parts of your routine while doing this and for a while after (so it sticks).

i found this really cranked ds up. he was totally confused by it. some find it works but sadly it didn't here.... i would not rule it out though. maybe my ds is/was too young...
